HVDC World
The leading intelligence platform for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission infrastructure, tracking hundreds of HVDC links worldwide across their full lifecycle. The hard part: turning a sprawling, fragmented global market — projects, converter stations, subsea and land cables, ratings, routes, costs and supply chain — into one legible, queryable, map-driven picture.

HVDC World is a comprehensive intelligence and analytics platform for the HVDC transmission sector. It maintains a project database covering hundreds of HVDC links globally, with structured data on each project's status, power rating, voltage, route and technical specs, plus cost data and stakeholders — and tracks the whole supply chain of OEMs, cable manufacturers, developers, consultants and financiers in a dedicated register.
The core engineering challenge was domain modelling: an HVDC project doesn't fit a flat table. A single link spans converter stations at each end, long subsea and underground cable runs, multiple voltages and ratings, a route geometry and a cast of stakeholders — all of which change as it moves from proposal to construction to operational. Modelling that graph of projects, assets, cables and companies coherently, keeping it verified and current, then making it fast to filter rather than just store, was the heart of the build.
Legibility was the other half. An interactive world map lets users filter projects by status, region and technology and read them geographically, so a complex global dataset becomes something you can explore at a glance. On top sit benchmarking and analytics tools, custom reports, and — for enterprise customers — data exports and an API, so the same model serves a casual map browser and a programmatic integration alike.
The outcome is a tiered product — a free, publicly accessible interactive map plus premium and enterprise plans that unlock deeper intelligence, exports and API access — used as a reference data source by investors, developers and analysts trying to understand HVDC market dynamics worldwide.
